Six killed, 18 injured in horrific multi-vehicle crash in Oman’s Samail

Six people have died and 18 others were injured, including eight who remain in critical condition, following a major traffic accident in the Wilayat of Samail on Friday night, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

Muscat: The tragic collision occurred in the Al Mahal area of Samail and involved a truck and several vehicles travelling along Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road towards Muscat.

The ROP had initially issued a traffic alert following the crash, reporting injuries and heavy congestion in the Wadi Bani Rawaha area and urging motorists approaching the scene to exercise extreme caution. Early reports did not specify the number or condition of the casualties.

In a subsequent update, police confirmed that the accident had claimed six lives and left 18 people injured. Eight of those injured were reported to be in critical condition.

The collision also caused significant traffic congestion on Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road as emergency teams responded to the scene.

Motorists travelling towards Muscat were advised to reduce speed, remain vigilant and follow traffic safety instructions while passing through the affected stretch of road.
