Manufacturing takes 92% of Credit Oman’s RO 226.6 million credit approvals

Manufacturing dominated Credit Oman’s portfolio in the first half of 2026, accounting for 92 percent of approved credit limits and 90 percent of insured sales.

MUSCAT: Credit Oman approved credit limits worth RO 226.6 million for domestic sales and exports in the first half of 2026, down from RO 253.1 million in the same period last year, according to figures released by the company.

Approved credit limits for exports stood at RO 138.5 million, compared with RO 148.7 million a year earlier, while limits for domestic sales declined to RO 88.1 million from RO 104.4 million.

The total value of insured export and domestic sales fell 9 percent to RO 191.4 million during the six-month period, from RO 211.4 million a year earlier.

Insured export sales declined 15 percent to RO 100.9 million from RO 118.1 million, while insured domestic sales slipped 3 percent to RO 90.5 million from RO 93.3 million.

Manufacturing dominates

Oman’s manufacturing sector accounted for the overwhelming majority of Credit Oman’s activity during the period, with approved credit limits of RO 208.3 million, representing 92 percent of the total.

Insured sales in the manufacturing sector reached RO 171.9 million, equivalent to around 90 percent of total insured sales.

Wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, ranked second, with RO 13 million in approved credit limits, representing 6 percent of the total. Insured sales in the sector stood at RO 11.3 million, also accounting for around 6 percent.

Agriculture, forestry and fishing ranked third, with approved credit limits of about RO 3.1 million, representing 1 percent of the total, while insured sales reached RO 6.2 million, or 3 percent.

Other sectors accounted for relatively small shares. Mining and quarrying recorded approved credit limits of about RO 988,000, followed by transportation and storage at RO 871,500 and construction at RO 259,600.

Administrative and support service activities, financial and insurance activities, and accommodation and food service activities collectively accounted for no more than 1 percent of total approved credit limits.

Credit Oman provides credit insurance and related solutions aimed at protecting Omani exporters and businesses against risks including non-payment and buyer default.

The company said its insurance services also support business continuity and give exporters and manufacturers greater confidence to enter new markets and expand existing sales while managing the financial risks associated with commercial transactions.
