MUSCAT : The Chamber said it has recently observed links to surveys and polls being circulated on social media platforms that were not issued through its official channels.
OCCI urged businesses and its members to exercise caution, verify the source of any survey or opinion poll before responding, and avoid disclosing information or data through unauthorised platforms.
The Chamber also warned individuals and entities against conducting or sharing surveys targeting business owners or Chamber members, or collecting information and opinions in a manner that suggests a connection with OCCI, without first consulting the Chamber and fulfilling the applicable regulatory requirements and procedures in Oman.
OCCI stressed that material circulated outside its official channels does not represent the Chamber and is not affiliated with it. The Chamber said it bears no responsibility for the content of such surveys or for any consequences arising from interacting with them.
The Chamber noted that surveys, opinion polls and data collection activities are subject to the regulatory frameworks and procedures in force in Oman. Surveys and opinion polls conducted by the Chamber are carried out in coordination with the National Centre for Statistics and Information and published only through its official channels.
OCCI further said it will take necessary regulatory and legal measures against practices involving the use of the Chamber’s name or claims of affiliation without the required official approvals from the Chamber and relevant authorities.
