MUSCAT : The national carrier has appointed Nasser bin Ahmed Al Sharji as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026, as it continues its strategic transformation and efforts to strengthen its long-term financial and operational performance.

Al Sharji brings more than 25 years of executive experience spanning operations, corporate transformation, aviation, public services, logistics, and oil and gas. He has held senior leadership roles at organisations including Asyad Group, OQ and Nama Water Services, where he contributed to major strategic projects at the national level.

Before his appointment as Oman Air CEO, Al Sharji served as Chief Executive Officer of Transom (Oman Ground Handling) and Acting CEO of Oman Airports. He holds a Master of Business Administration and has served on boards and chaired committees across several sectors.

His Excellency Said Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of Oman Air’s Board of Directors, said Al Sharji’s aviation experience, practical expertise and track record in corporate transformation and strategy development position him to lead the airline through its next phase.

His Excellency Al Maawali expressed confidence that Al Sharji would help steer Oman Air towards sustainable long-term growth and strengthen its position as Oman’s national carrier.

The minister also thanked outgoing CEO Con Korfiatis for his leadership during a key phase of Oman Air’s strategic transformation, which began in 2024. He credited Korfiatis with helping advance the airline’s financial sustainability, operational efficiency and corporate performance in a highly competitive aviation market.

Korfiatis will continue supporting Oman Air as Advisor to the CEO, providing guidance and helping ensure business continuity during the transition.
