Muscat: The national team will compete in the Arab Long Distance Swimming Championship in Tunisia from October 2 to 4, 2026, followed by the Arab Short Distance Swimming Championship in Bahrain from November 13 to 17.

The swimmers will begin an external training camp in Egypt on Wednesday, which will continue until the end of August. The camp follows the conclusion of an internal training programme held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

Dr Awad bin Salem Al Ajili, President of the Omani Water Sports Federation, visited the training venue and met members of the national team delegation ahead of their departure for Egypt.

During the visit, attended by members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Dr Al Ajili stressed the importance of making full use of the overseas training programme to improve the swimmers’ technical and physical preparedness.

He said the camp is aimed at helping the national team achieve the desired results and deliver performances that reflect the growing level of Omani water sports at upcoming regional competitions.

The delegation is headed by Musa bin Saif Al Hinai, Secretary-General in charge of the Federation, and also includes general coach Mohammed Bouqra, assistant national team coach Ayman bin Hamad Al Kulaibi, and physiotherapist Balarif Hussein.

The swimmers taking part in the camp are Naif bin Munir Al Qasimi, Nasser bin Saif Al Kindi, Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Wahibi, Shihab bin Ahmed Al Batashi, Mohammed bin Khamis Al Wahibi, Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Mahmoud bin Mohammed Awlad Thani, Khalil bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Ghaith bin Khalil Al Wahibi, Yousef bin Saeed Al Sulti, Elias bin Fathi Al Harthi, Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Mohammed bin Talib Al Rahbi, and Moamen bin Mazen Al Abdali.
