MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested an Asian national for allegedly carrying out international money transfers for a number of expatriate workers through unlicensed applications.
In a statement, the ROP said the arrest was made by the Al Buraimi Governorate Police Command.
According to police, the suspect was allegedly using applications that were not licensed for money-transfer activities to conduct international financial transfers on behalf of expatriate workers.

The transactions were carried out in exchange for financial gain, the police said.
The ROP did not disclose the identity or nationality of the suspect beyond describing him as an Asian national. It also did not specify the number of workers involved, the amount of money allegedly transferred, the destinations of the transfers or the applications used.
Police said legal procedures against the suspect are being completed.
