Muscat: According to online reports, the woman, identified as Latha Sunil of Vadakara in Kozhikode district, was arrested after a complaint from a young man from Arattuthara near Mananthavady.
Investigators have so far identified 51 alleged victims, including 21 people known to the complainant. The accused allegedly promised the job seekers employment at a company that was preparing to begin operations in Oman, with a monthly salary of up to ₹75,000.
The complaint stated that he had paid ₹65,000 in January 2025. Several other job seekers allegedly transferred ₹75,000 each to the accused’s bank account for visa processing and related expenses.
The promised visas reportedly failed to materialise, prompting the complainant to approach the police after the deadline passed.
During the investigation, police allegedly found that the address provided by the accused was not genuine and that she had travelled to the Gulf after complaints were lodged. A lookout notice was subsequently issued.
Police took her into custody early Friday after she arrived at Calicut International Airport in Karipur on a flight from Muscat.
