Vehicle registrations in Oman reach nearly 1.9 million by end of June 2026

The total number of vehicles registered in Oman reached 1,896,956 by the end of June 2026, marking a 5.5 per cent increase from the same period a year earlier, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

MUSCAT: Private vehicles accounted for the largest share of registrations, with 1,503,239 vehicles, followed by 281,217 commercial vehicles.

The data showed that Oman had 44,817 rental vehicles, 28,859 taxis, 11,764 government vehicles and 10,961 temporary vehicles by the end of June.

Motorcycles recorded the highest growth among vehicle registration categories, increasing by 10.7 per cent to 9,005 by the end of June 2026, compared with 8,712 a year earlier.

By vehicle weight, 1,720,196 vehicles weighed less than three tonnes, while 80,736 vehicles were in the seven-to-10-tonne category.

The number of vehicles weighing more than 10 tonnes stood at 54,912 at the end of June 2026.
