MUSCAT: According to the monthly statistical bulletin issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Omanis numbered 3,063,949, accounting for 56.75 percent of the total population, while expatriates numbered 2,334,696, representing 43.25 percent.
At the governorate level, Muscat had the largest population at 1,542,619, accounting for 28.6 percent of Oman’s total population.
North Al Batinah Governorate ranked second with 947,147 people, or 17.5 percent, followed by South Al Batinah Governorate with 590,160, or 10.9 percent.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate ranked fourth with 575,096 people, representing 10.7 percent, while Dhofar Governorate ranked fifth with 536,302, or 9.9 percent.
South Al Sharqiyah Governorate recorded 378,335 people, representing 7 percent, followed by North Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 323,473, or 6 percent.
Al Dhahirah Governorate had a population of 249,095, representing 4.6 percent, while Al Buraimi Governorate recorded 135,797, or 2.5 percent.
Al Wusta Governorate had 64,815 people, accounting for 1.2 percent, while Musandam Governorate recorded 55,806, representing 1 percent of Oman’s total population.
