WASHINGTON: In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran and “other Middle Eastern countries” had requested time to finalise an agreement that would lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and end the Iranian nuclear threat.
Trump added, “Israel joins me in this commitment.” However, Israel has not issued any public statement confirming the claim.
Earlier this week, Iran warned against any “reckless action” by the United States and said it would respond decisively if US forces carried out Trump’s threats to launch new attacks on Iranian targets.

Oil prices have remained elevated since US and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran on February 28, escalating the conflict. Brent crude futures rose 24 per cent in July.
The threat of Iranian attacks has disrupted much of the shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies, contributing to market uncertainty and sending shockwaves through the global economy.
