WASHINGTON – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes began at 8 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday and concluded at 10 pm Eastern Time, targeting facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to CENTCOM, the strikes hit multiple locations, including military command centres, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defence sites, and naval capabilities.
The operation followed what Washington described as an attempted “surprise attack” by Iran, after US forces intercepted several ballistic missiles launched towards American positions in the region.
Iran confirmed that it had carried out attacks targeting US bases in Jordan. Following the interceptions, US President Donald Trump said American forces would respond with significant action.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian military said its air defences intercepted and destroyed five missiles targeting the kingdom. It added that no casualties were reported following the incident.
