Muscat Municipality warns against public spitting and betel quid littering

Muscat Municipality has urged the public to refrain from spitting in public places, warning that the habit not only poses health risks but also detracts from the city's appearance and cleanliness.

MUSCAT – In a public awareness campaign, the municipality said spitting in public spaces affects the civilised image of the capital and undermines efforts to maintain a clean and healthy urban environment.


The civic body also highlighted the harmful effects of smokeless tobacco, commonly known as betel quid, saying its use is detrimental to personal health while the residue and stains it leaves behind have a negative impact on shared public spaces.
