BARCELONA – Barcelona has pledged full support to the family of a construction worker who was killed during ongoing renovation work at the club’s Camp Nou stadium, expressing condolences following the fatal workplace accident.

In a statement, the LaLiga champions said they deeply regretted the worker’s death and extended their sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. Club president Joan Laporta also personally conveyed his condolences and offered the club’s support to the bereaved family during what it described as a difficult time.

The victim, a 54-year-old construction worker, died on Friday after an accident at the Spotify Camp Nou renovation site. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the first fatal workplace accident since the redevelopment project began in 2023.
