MUSCAT : The settlement was reached after the consumer reported a defect in a newly purchased vehicle, where an engine warning light appeared only days after receiving delivery.
According to the CPA, an inspection found that the vehicle’s engine contained no engine oil, a condition that could have caused serious engine damage or complete engine failure due to operation without proper lubrication.
Further checks confirmed that the vehicle had been included in a manufacturer recall due to a manufacturing defect.
Following the complaint and subsequent procedures, the two parties reached an amicable agreement under which the defective vehicle was replaced with a new vehicle valued at RO 32,000.
