MUSCAT : Backed by strong home support, the “Red Volleyball” team delivered an exceptional performance to beat Qatar 3-0, with set scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-23. The victory marks a major milestone for Omani volleyball and underlines the national team’s growing presence at the regional and continental levels.
Oman dominated the final from the start, showing strong focus, attacking power and solid defensive organisation. The team maintained control throughout the match, holding off Qatar’s challenge in the third set to seal a memorable win on home ground.
The title comes at a significant moment for the national team, which recently achieved its best-ever world ranking by reaching 69th place globally. The West Asian crown adds another major achievement to Oman’s volleyball journey and reflects the progress made through technical and administrative efforts in recent years.

In the third-place match, Iraq secured the bronze medal after defeating Kuwait 3-1. Iraq won with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18.
Following the final, the winning teams were honoured, with Oman receiving the gold medals and championship trophy. Qatar claimed the silver medals, while Iraq took home the bronze.
Several players were also recognised with individual awards. Oman’s Mahmoud Al Saadi received the award for best player in position 4, while Qatar’s Mohammed Waleed was named second best player in position 4. Abdullah Naseem won the award for best player in position 3, and Qatar’s Mahmoud Wahab received the second best player award in the same position.
Qatar’s Mehdi Mahmoud was named best setter, while Oman’s Majid Al Shibli received the award for best player in position 2. Abdullah Al Muqbali was named best libero, and Oman’s Falah Al Jaradi was crowned best player of the tournament.
The second edition of the championship featured seven national teams: Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
Qatar had won the first edition of the West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, held in Bahrain, where Bahrain finished second and Oman came third.
