WASHINGTON – Iranian state media reported explosions in several parts of the country following the strikes. Explosions were heard on Qeshm Island, in the southern city of Jask, and in Chabahar in southeastern Iran. Two additional explosions were reported in Ahvaz and Mahshahr in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
Iranian media also reported strikes on areas outside the central city of Khondab, while the official IRNA news agency said two explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas.
Authorities in Hormozgan province said no casualties or damage were recorded from the US strikes in the province.
However, in neighbouring Khuzestan province, the deputy governor said a US strike hit an agricultural water pumping station in Mahshahr, killing one person and injuring four others.
The latest strikes mark a further escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran as military confrontations continue and security concerns across the region remain high.
