MUSCAT: Oman has summoned Iran’s ambassador to lodge a formal protest over drone strikes that targeted locations in Musandam and Al Wusta governorates, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, His Excellency Khalid bin Hashil Al Muslahi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, summoned Iranian Ambassador Mousa Farhang and handed him a memorandum of protest regarding the drone attacks.
The ministry said Oman expressed its strong condemnation of the strikes, which targeted sites in Musandam and Al Wusta, describing them as irresponsible acts that violate the principles of good neighbourliness and respect for state sovereignty.

During the meeting, Omani officials conveyed the Sultanate’s rejection of actions that undermine security and stability, while urging adherence to international norms, non-interference in the internal affairs of states and respect for the longstanding ties between the peoples of Oman and Iran.
Earlier on Sunday, a security source cited by the Oman News Agency (ONA) said locations in Musandam had been targeted by drones. Oman condemned the attack and said it would take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security, territorial integrity and the safety of its residents.
The latest diplomatic move marks Oman’s strongest public response yet to the drone strikes, which come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over security in the Gulf and nearby maritime routes.
