CARACAS : According to Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez, the latest official figures show that 16,740 people have been injured in the disaster, while 17,907 people have been left homeless.

The twin earthquakes have caused severe damage across affected areas, leaving authorities and rescue teams racing to support survivors and assess the full scale of destruction.

As the country begins the long process of recovery and reconstruction, Venezuela has renewed its call for international sanctions imposed on the country to be lifted. Officials said easing the restrictions would help speed up rebuilding efforts and allow the government to access resources needed for relief and rehabilitation.
