MUSCAT – The initiative is part of the TRA’s ongoing efforts to develop the Sultanate’s digital security ecosystem and foster a safe, reliable digital environment that keeps pace with rapid technological advancements. The platform is designed to improve cybersecurity readiness while supporting Oman’s wider digital transformation objectives.
The Taras platform serves as a unified system for managing, monitoring and tracking reports related to electronic fraud and digital risks. Powered by advanced digital technologies, it receives reports, analyses digital data, detects fraudulent patterns and responds to cyber threats through integrated operational mechanisms that enable faster decision-making and closer coordination with relevant authorities.
The platform monitors a broad range of harmful online activities, including suspicious local and international phone numbers, malicious web links, phishing messages, abusive social media accounts and offensive comments. It also tracks digital content that violates societal values and misleading online publications to ensure such activities are addressed efficiently.
The platform provides individuals and institutions with a single channel to report suspicious digital activities, enabling authorities to respond more effectively to cyber incidents.
The launch is expected to strengthen digital governance, enhance cybersecurity preparedness and support the development of a trusted digital economy. It also aims to improve Oman’s standing in international indicators related to digital security and digital trust.
