MUSCAT – Oman’s delegation will be led by His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology. The delegation will include Idris Abdulrahman Al Khanjari, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and its Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The global dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance will see the participation of representatives of the United Nation’s 193 member states, in addition to representatives of private sector establishments, civil society institutions, the academic sector and the technical community.
The event will be the first international platform of its kind to be organised by the United Nations General Assembly to exchange the best practices in developing AI methodologies. It also seeks to ensure that governance reflects the priorities of all countries—not just the most technologically advanced ones—and that all countries merit an opportunity to share the benefits of AI.
The WSIS Forum, organized by the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union, will showcase the latest developments in artificial intelligence, networking, public digital infrastructure, cybersecurity and multilingual digital systems.
The forum will also explore ways to furnish a structured environment for studying emerging risks, including online safety challenges, misinformation, data management hurdles and the widening digital divide.
