Washington: The FIFA World Cup round of 16 continues on Sunday with two major heavyweight encounters, as Brazil take on Norway at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, while cohosts Mexico face England at the Mexico City Stadium.
Brazil will meet Norway at 4pm local time (20:00 GMT) in a contest loaded with history. The two sides have faced each other four times in all competitions, with Norway remaining unbeaten after two wins and two draws. Their most memorable result came at the 1998 World Cup, when the Scandinavian side defeated Brazil 2-1.
However, Brazil head into the match as clear favourites, according to Opta’s supercomputer. Based on 25,000 pre-match simulations, Brazil were projected to win in regulation time in 53.6 per cent of the outcomes.

Later on Sunday, Mexico will take on England at 6pm local time, with the match beginning at 00:00 GMT on Monday. The two teams have met only once previously at the World Cup, during the group stage of the 1966 tournament.
England won that encounter 2-0 through goals from Bobby Charlton and Roger Hunt before going on to lift the World Cup, the only title in the Three Lions’ history.
The knockout-stage action follows Morocco’s advance into the quarterfinals and France’s fiery victory over Paraguay, as the tournament continues to deliver high drama and major upsets.
The round-of-16 schedule will continue on Monday with Portugal facing Spain at Dallas Stadium at 19:00 GMT, followed by the United States against Belgium at Seattle Stadium at 00:00 GMT on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Argentina will face Egypt at Atlanta Stadium at 16:00 GMT, while Switzerland take on Colombia at BC Place in Vancouver at 20:00 GMT.
