MUSCAT : The raid, carried out by the Directorate General of Consumer Protection Authority in North Al Batinah through its office in Shinas, followed reports that expatriate workers were using a residential apartment to sell and distribute prohibited products in violation of applicable laws.
After obtaining the necessary legal approvals, inspection teams raided the premises and confiscated 2,399 packets of smokeless chewing tobacco, 1,110 packs of assorted cigarettes, 14 containers of alcoholic beverages, as well as materials and equipment used to prepare and package the prohibited products.
The authority said all seized items were confiscated and legal procedures have been completed against the violators.
