ABU DHABI : The historic service departed Fujairah at approximately 5.34 am and arrived at Mohamed bin Zayed City Station at 7.15 am, reaching its destination four minutes ahead of schedule.
The launch marks the first phase of Etihad Rail’s passenger network, with additional stations set to open over the coming months. Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station are scheduled to begin operations on September 30, followed by Al Dhafra Station on December 30. The network is expected to be fully operational when Sharjah Train Station opens on March 30, 2027.
Once complete, the passenger rail system will link 11 cities and regions across the UAE, stretching from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah on the east coast. The route will serve key locations including Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Al Dhaid.
