Washington: The latest US strikes have drawn a strong reaction from Tehran, with senior Iranian officials accusing Washington of abandoning diplomacy and violating ceasefire understandings.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the attacks demonstrated the United States’ lack of commitment to negotiations.

In a post on X, Azizi said the US had “once again attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations,” describing the strikes as a reckless breach of the ceasefire. He added that such actions would ultimately lead to “retreat and regret” for Washington, while dismissing what he called attempts to shift blame.

His remarks came shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that its naval forces had launched retaliatory attacks against US military positions across the region in response to the American strikes on southern Iran.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities said no damage was reported at the Port of Sirik in eastern Hormozgan Province despite renewed US attacks. According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the head of ports in eastern Hormozgan confirmed that port operations continued normally and no equipment was damaged, although explosions had earlier been reported near the facility.

The renewed exchange of strikes follows an incident a day earlier in which a cargo vessel was reportedly hit by an Iranian drone, an event the United States cited as justification for its military response.
