Chennai: K Bhagyaraj was widely regarded as one of Tamil cinema’s most influential filmmakers, earning acclaim for his sharp screenplays, relatable characters and engaging middle-class family dramas that resonated with audiences across generations.
Over a career spanning several decades, Bhagyaraj established himself as a versatile filmmaker, actor and writer, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire filmmakers and entertain audiences. He began his film career as an assistant director to veteran Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away earlier this month, on the 1977 film 16 Vayathinile.
His passing marks the end of an era for the Tamil film industry, with tributes expected from across the Indian cinema fraternity.
