MUSCAT – According to the latest forecast, parts of the Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas are expected to witness cumulus cloud development during the afternoon, bringing scattered rainfall that may become thundery at times. The thunderstorm alert, classified as moderate in intensity, remains in effect from 12 pm on June 23.
Met office has also warned of dust storm activity over parts of the Hajar Mountains, accompanied by active downdraft winds associated with thunderstorm development.
A separate moderate wind alert has been issued for Al Jazirah, Duqm, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, Mahout and Masirah, effective from midnight on June 23. Another moderate wind warning will come into force from 4 pm for Tamrit, Maqshan and Haima.

In its general forecast, Oman Meteorology said partly cloudy conditions are expected along the coast of Dhofar Governorate, with scattered rainfall and intermittent drizzle. The rest of the Sultanate is forecast to remain mostly clear.
Dust and sand may be raised over desert areas overlooking the Arabian Sea due to active winds, potentially reducing horizontal visibility in some locations.
Low clouds or fog are also expected to form late at night and during the early morning hours over parts of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, as well as sections of the Sea of Oman coastline.
