MUSCAT – The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and the Endowment Health Foundation ‘Athar’, has launched the second edition of a healthcare initiative aimed at providing medical treatment for eligible Zakat beneficiaries through private healthcare institutions across Oman.

Registration for treatment requests will open at the beginning of July and continue until mid-August for beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Treatment procedures are scheduled to commence in early September.

The initiative is being implemented in line with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to allocate funds for the treatment of individuals eligible for Zakat, reinforcing efforts to improve access to healthcare services for vulnerable segments of society.

The programme seeks to strengthen the values of social solidarity and community support while enhancing quality of life, reducing healthcare disparities and accelerating access to medical services.

The initiative will cover surgical procedures and diagnostic radiology services at private hospitals across all governorates of the Sultanate. It is also expected to help reduce waiting lists at referral hospitals by expanding treatment capacity through the private healthcare sector.
