ZURICH – Planned talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland have been postponed, Swiss authorities said on Friday, casting fresh uncertainty over efforts to advance a recently signed agreement aimed at easing tensions between the two countries.

The discussions, scheduled to take place at the Bürgenstock resort in central Switzerland, were expected to focus on implementing a broader understanding reached earlier this week between Washington and Tehran. Swiss officials confirmed that the meeting would not take place as planned and said no new date had been announced.

A White House spokesperson said U.S. Vice President JD Vance would no longer travel to Switzerland for the talks, adding that logistical challenges and uncertainty surrounding the negotiations contributed to the decision.

The postponement comes amid concerns over regional instability and questions about the next steps in implementing the agreement. Switzerland said it remains ready to facilitate future negotiations and that preparatory work for the talks would continue.

No immediate date has been set for the resumption of the talks.
