Makkah Al-Mukarramah- The Holy Kaaba has been draped in its new covering for the year 1448 AH, a majestic visual spectacle that embodies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s devotion to Islam’s holiest site.

A total of 150 Saudi artisans and craftsmen channelled their expertise over 11 months to produce 47 pieces of luxurious black silk, embroidered with 30 verses of the Holy Quran using silver threads plated with 24‑carat gold. The Kiswah weighs a total of 1,410 kilogrammes.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the Kiswah’s production passed through seven meticulous stages: water purification and silk washing, followed by weaving, printing, embroidery, assembly and inspection, culminating in its transport via a specially designed trailer to the Mataf courtyard at the Grand Mosque.
