MUSCAT — The Port of Salalah has been ranked third globally and first in the Arab world in the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), underscoring Oman’s growing role as a key logistics and maritime hub, according to data released by the World Bank Group.

The ranking, published in the latest edition of the index, measures port efficiency based on the speed of container vessel handling and the time ships spend in port. The assessment is widely used as a benchmark for operational performance across the global maritime industry.

According to the report, efficient ports play a critical role in reducing shipping costs, improving supply chain reliability and facilitating international trade. Faster vessel turnaround times can help lower congestion and enhance the resilience of global logistics networks.

The Port of Salalah’s performance places it ahead of many major international ports and highlights the competitiveness of Oman’s maritime infrastructure, supported by modern facilities and operational efficiency.
