MUSCAT : Oman’s Ministry of Labour has dismissed as false a video circulating on social media that allegedly depicts a worker being assaulted, clarifying that the footage has no connection to the Sultanate and was previously shared online outside Oman.
In a statement posted on its official social media channels, the ministry said the widely circulated clip does not relate to any incident in Oman and described claims linking it to the country as inaccurate.
“The circulated video clip has no connection to the Sultanate of Oman. It is an old video that was previously shared through platforms outside the Sultanate,” the ministry said.

The clarification comes amid the spread of social media posts suggesting the footage showed a worker being subjected to abuse in Oman, prompting concern among users.
The ministry stressed that Oman’s labour laws and regulatory framework provide protection for workers and ensure their rights are safeguarded under the law.
In an accompanying awareness message, the ministry said that incidents of this nature did not occur in Oman and reiterated that the country’s legal and regulatory systems guarantee protection for victims and provide mechanisms for reporting labour-related violations.
The ministry also called on the public to exercise caution when consuming and sharing information online, urging users to verify the accuracy of content through official sources before publishing or circulating it.
