Oman U-18 beach volleyball team books world championship spot

Oman’s national under-18 beach volleyball team has secured qualification for the final round of the World Championship, set to take place in The Hague, Netherlands, from July 8 to 12.

Muscat: The national team earned its place in the prestigious tournament after finishing ninth at the Asian Under-18 Beach Volleyball Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in May.

According to the official bulletin issued by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, Oman has been officially included among the teams competing for a place in the main draw of the World Championship, which features 32 teams from across the globe.

The final qualifying stage will see Oman competing alongside Saudi Arabia, Japan and Hong Kong for the remaining spots in the main draw. Several Asian teams have already secured direct qualification, including Australia, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Thailand and Iran.

The tournament will also feature top teams from Europe, North and South America, and Africa, bringing together some of the world’s best young beach volleyball players.

Oman will be represented by Haitham Al-Buraiki and Mazen Al-Salmani under the guidance of coach Amir Hossein Ismailzadeh. Preliminary procedures for the championship are scheduled to begin on July 7 in The Hague ahead of the competition’s official start.
