Chandigarh: The 15-year-old opener added another milestone to his growing list of achievements with a blistering half-century in the high-stakes clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Entering the match with 932 runs from just 22 IPL appearances, Sooryavanshi needed 68 runs to reach the 1,000-run mark and became the fastest Indian to achieve the feat.

The young star also etched his name into T20 cricket history by becoming the first batter ever to score 500 runs in the powerplay during a single tournament. His remarkable achievement underlines the dominance he has displayed in the opening six overs throughout IPL 2026, where bowlers have struggled to contain his aggressive approach.

Sooryavanshi arrived at Qualifier 2 on the back of one of the most explosive playoff innings in IPL history, smashing 97 runs off just 29 balls in the previous match. While he narrowly missed what would have been the fastest century in IPL history, the knock saw him surpass Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a single IPL season.

With Rajasthan Royals’ campaign hanging in the balance after losing two early wickets against Gujarat Titans, the team once again turned to their teenage prodigy. Having already become the face of RR’s remarkable season, Sooryavanshi delivered yet another memorable performance as the Royals chased a place in the IPL 2026 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
