MUSCAT: According to the Royal Oman Police, the suspects targeted residences where homeowners had left spare keys hidden outside properties, enabling the gang to enter homes without forced entry or violence.
In video footage released by the police, authorities described the case as involving a “suspicious criminal method” uncovered by the General Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations following surveillance and tracking operations.
Police said jewellery and valuables worth more than RO 20,000 were stolen during the incidents.
The footage highlighted common places where residents hide spare keys, including inside shoes and beneath rugs, warning that such practices can expose homes to theft.
“Their appearance doesn’t raise suspicion,” the video narration stated, cautioning residents against leaving keys outside even for short periods.
