MUSCAT : OETC has continues to advance energy infrastructure development with the successful commissioning of three major grid stations in Dhofar Governorate: Mudhai, Shaba Asaib, and Al Mazyunah. This development marks a significant step toward enhancing grid efficiency and reliability while meeting the governorate’s growing power demand. The project also included the construction of 267 km of 132 kV overhead transmission lines. Upon completion, the project achieved 3,980,558 million man-hours without Lost Time Injuries, reflecting the company’s commitment to the highest health and safety standards. Notably, OETC reached approximately 75 million safe man-hours by the end of April 2026.
These projects will facilitate the decommissioning of several diesel-powered plants, reducing annual carbon emissions by approximately 82,000 tons and saving nearly 30.5 million Liters of diesel per year. This aligns with Oman’s National Net Zero 2050 goal, reducing reliance on conventional fuel while integrating renewable energy to ensure sustainable energy security.
This achievement reflects the pivotal role of OETC as a key enabler of the Sultanate’s energy sector, further solidifying its position through the operation of a highly efficient and reliable power grid stations Last year, the company recorded a world-class reliability rate of 99.9994%, while efficiently operating a total of 116 grid stations across all governorates of the Sultanate.

The grid is undergoing significant expansion through strategic projects across the Sultanate’s governorates, enhancing its flexibility and capacity to meet growing energy demands. In this context, Eng. Khalid bin Marhoon Al Harmali, Acting General Manager of Projects confirmed that OETC is moving forward with a strategic project package focused on interconnection, expansion and the integration of renewable energy. These efforts support the national target of increasing renewable energy’s contribution to 30% by 2030.
Across all its projects, OETC remains committed to global best practices and standards, prioritizing maximum safety including a “zero” record of major environmental incidents. Furthermore, the successful renewal of the ISO certification for Integrated Management Systems reflects OETC’s dedication to continuous development and performance improvement in accordance with local and international frameworks.
OETC is responsible for the transmission network and load dispatch across the national grid, covering all governorates of Oman. The company also manages interconnections with the GCC Interconnection Grid at 220 kV and operates under the Nama Group framework to support Oman’s vision of building a secure, reliable, and sustainable electricity ecosystem.
