Moscow: The ceasefire, which will remain in effect until May 11, is expected to include a halt to all military operations between the two sides, alongside a major prisoner exchange involving 1,000 prisoners from each country.
The announcement comes amid continued tensions on the battlefield, with both Moscow and Kyiv accusing each other of violating separate ceasefires that had previously been declared independently.
In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump said the temporary truce could mark “the beginning of the end” of the prolonged war between the two nations. He also noted that talks aimed at ending the conflict were continuing to show progress.
