MUSCAT : The move underscores Oman’s growing presence on the global urban and economic development map.

The inclusion represents a qualitative milestone for Greater Muscat, reflecting its emergence as a forward-looking urban model that integrates strategic planning, sustainability, quality of life, and investment attractiveness.

It also strengthens Muscat’s position within a network of leading global business districts, including Paris La Défense in France, Chicago Loop in the United States, Toronto Waterfront in Canada, and Liverpool One in the United Kingdom.

The achievement comes as part of ongoing efforts led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to implement the Greater Muscat Plan, a long-term strategic framework aimed at reshaping the capital, enhancing its global competitiveness, and upgrading its urban and economic infrastructure in line with national development objectives.

The plan focuses on building an integrated and productive urban system through 15 specialised economic clusters, boosting the non-oil economy, and developing a modern transport network that enhances mobility and quality of life.

The Global Business Districts Innovation Club is an international platform dedicated to advancing global business districts and urban centres. It brings together leading development authorities, business district managers, investors, and experts in urban planning, innovation, and urban economics.

The club aims to foster cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of competitive and sustainable urban models that attract investment and talent.

In its official statement, the Global Business Districts Innovation Club said Greater Muscat’s membership adds value to global conversations on urban transformation, governance, and large-scale development, highlighting the importance of collaboration and experience-sharing among member cities.

The inclusion reinforces Muscat’s positioning as a future-ready city and reflects growing international confidence in Oman’s urban development vision focused on sustainability, resilience, and quality of life.
