WASHINGTON : Speaking on the White House’s approach to Iran, Pete Hegseth stated that the US strategy is focused on compelling Iran to reconsider its position and ultimately “get them to the point where they’re at the table giving it up.”

His remarks come amid ongoing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear capabilities and stalled diplomatic efforts to revive a comprehensive nuclear agreement. According to Hegseth, previous military actions by the US and Israel targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities last year had left them “obliterated,” significantly impacting Tehran’s infrastructure.

However, he cautioned that despite these setbacks, Iran continues to pursue its nuclear ambitions. He also highlighted concerns over the country’s military strength, pointing to what he described as a “conventional shield of thousands of missiles” that could complicate regional security dynamics.
