Despite strong defensive efforts and key saves from goalkeeper Younis Al-Owaisi, Iranian players Shukri Abadi and Mohammad Balturk extended the lead with two late goals, ending the first period 3-0 in Iran’s favour.
Oman responded with renewed energy in the second half, as Abdullah Al-Salti pulled one back to make it 3-1. However, Iran quickly regained control, with Balturk netting his second goal to close the second period at 4-1.
