MUSCAT – The ceremony, held at the ministry’s headquarters, featured visual presentations and technical working papers addressing intellectual property concepts, Oman’s sports strategy, and the linkage between the sports sector and the pillars of Oman Vision 2040. The event also included participation from the Oman Automobile Association.

Engineer Khalid bin Hamoud Al Hinai, Director of the National Intellectual Property Office at the ministry, said the occasion reflects the growing importance of intellectual property rights as a key pillar in developing the sports sector and turning it into an innovation- and investment-driven industry.

He said this aligns with Oman Vision 2040, stressing the importance of protecting trademarks and innovation rights across the sector to ensure sustainable growth.

Ghalib bin Mohammed Al Saidi, an intellectual property researcher at the National Intellectual Property Office, highlighted the role of intellectual property in protecting the national identity and trademarks of sports institutions, as well as regulating broadcasting rights for sporting events.

He added that intellectual property supports innovation in sports technologies and platforms, helps combat commercial fraud and counterfeiting in goods and digital applications, and contributes to the development of sports professionalism and a stronger investment environment in the sector.
