New Delhi – Ayush Mhatre suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the Chennai Super Kings against Sunrisers Hyderabad, raising concerns over his fitness. The injury occurred early in the innings when Mhatre attempted a quick second run but pulled up in pain, requiring immediate attention from the team physiotherapist. Although he briefly continued, his movement was visibly restricted and his performance was affected.
CSK batting coach Michael Hussey later confirmed that the injury seems to be a hamstring tear and called it a potentially serious setback for the team. He explained that the true severity will be determined after medical scans but conceded that “it looks pretty bad.” With Mhatre performing strongly this season, his absence could affect CSK’s batting order, prompting the team to consider replacement options going forward.
