BANGKOK : Oman’s men’s national hockey team delivered a commanding performance to secure the Men’s Asian Games Qualifiers title, defeating Sri Lanka 3–1 in the final at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Stadium in Bangkok.
Oman set the tone early, with Maitham Al Wahaibi opening the scoring in the 7th minute to give his side a confident start. The momentum was firmly consolidated just before halftime when Aliyas Al-Noufali struck twice in quick succession, finding the net in the 29th and 30th minutes to effectively seal the contest. His match-winning display earned him the Player of the Match award.




The victory marks Oman’s third consecutive Asian Games Qualifiers title, following earlier triumphs in Muscat in 2018 and Bangkok in 2022, underlining the team’s sustained dominance and rising stature in Asian hockey.

On the individual front, Rashad Al Fazari stood out across the tournament, claiming both the Best Player and Emerging Player awards—highlighting the depth and promise within the Omani squad.
With the win, Oman confirm their place at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, scheduled to be held from September 19 to October 4.
Oman remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, showcasing consistency, discipline, and tactical strength. The achievement is further notable for being guided entirely by an all-Omani coaching and management team, reflecting the continued growth and development of hockey in the Sultanate.
