MUSCAT : Oman’s largest sevens football tournament, the third edition of the Soccer Carnival, will take place on April 16 and 17 at Bowsher Club Stadium, organisers said, combining competitive sport with entertainment and food in a festival-style setting.
Organised by ‘Me Friend’ in collaboration with the Kerala Muscat Football Association (KMFA), the event will feature 16 of Oman’s top sevens football teams competing for what organisers describe as the highest prize pool offered in a football tournament in the Sultanate. Entry to the event will be free for the public.
Matches leading up to the quarter-finals will begin at 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, with the semi-finals and final scheduled for Friday, April 17.

Activities will include games for women and children, quizzes, face painting, and football shootout competitions, with prizes for participants.
A major attraction will be a large food court featuring around 20 stalls offering a mix of Kerala cuisine and international dishes. The setup will include live cooking counters by prominent restaurants in Oman, alongside stalls run by women’s groups from Muscat, as well as vendors offering chocolates, handicrafts, and mehendi.
Organisers said the event aims to bring together the expatriate community through a blend of sport, music, and food.
Details of the event were shared during a press conference attended by Afzal Ahammed, Resident Manager at Madhyamam; Anjab Ameer, convenor of Soccer Carnival; Mobin K.
