Value of fish landings in Oman rises 12.7% to RO 576 million by end of 2025

The total value of fish landed in Oman from artisanal, coastal, and commercial fishing reached approximately RO 576.18 million by the end of December 2025.

MUSCAT : This marks a 12.7 percent increase compared to RO 511.30 million recorded at the end of December 2024.

Preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the total quantity of fish landed reached 798,615 tons by the end of 2025, up 3.7 percent from 769,769 tons in 2024.

Artisanal fishing contributed significantly, with landings increasing 3.3 percent to 715,745 tons compared to 692,973 tons the previous year. Al Wusta Governorate led the Sultanate in artisanal fish quantities with 246,183 tons, followed by South Al Sharqiyah (222,726 tons), North and South Al Batinah (84,883 tons), Dhofar (73,824 tons), Musandam (50,489 tons), and Muscat (37,640 tons).

Commercial fishing volumes rose 8.7 percent to 74,461 tons, while coastal fishing saw a modest increase of 1 percent, reaching 8,409 tons.

At the species level, small pelagic fish dominated artisanal landings at 372,740 tons, followed by large pelagic fish (211,776 tons), demersal fish (101,291 tons), crustaceans and molluscs (11,844 tons), and other unclassified species (11,004 tons). Sharks recorded the lowest landings, totalling 7,090 tons.
