MUSCAT – The discussions pertained to the ‘Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law’ and the ‘Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Penal Code’, referred by the Council of Ministers.
The ‘Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law’ referred by the Council of Ministers included modifications to 13 articles, of which six articles were subjects of dispute between the two councils. The committee concluded by reaching a consensus on all articles of disagreement between the two chambers and will submit its report for discussion during a joint session of the State Council and the Shura Council.
The ‘Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Penal Code’, also referred by the Council of Ministers included the addition of five articles to the Penal Code, all of which were points of dispute between the two councils.
The committee reached a consensus on all the articles of disagreement between the two councils and will raise its report for deliberation in the joint session of the State Council and the Shura Council.
