ABUJA – Officials said the assault occurred in the village of Mbalom, located in the Gwer East district, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
The state governor, Hyacinth Alia, blamed the attack on what he described as “suspected armed herders.”
Nigeria’s central and western regions have been grappling with a complex security crisis, marked by recurring attacks on rural communities.
Armed gangs have been involved in looting villages, kidnapping residents, and carrying out violent assaults, while militant groups operating in the northwest continue efforts to expand their reach southward.
