MUSCAT – Adherence to the Land Transport Law and its implementing regulations is essential to ensuring public safety, protecting individual rights, and maintaining an organised and sustainable transport sector, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.

In a statement, the ministry urged operators and drivers to comply fully with existing regulations, stressing that commitment to the law enhances safety standards and safeguards the rights of all road users across the Sultanate.

The ministry highlighted some of the most prominent violations under the Land Transport Law (10/2016) and its Implementing Regulation No. (2/2018). These include operating a land transport vehicle without obtaining a valid permit, using a vehicle with an expired operating permit, and transporting passengers in taxis from unauthorised locations.

Additional violations cited include failure to comply with land transport safety requirements and breaches of labour laws related to the employment of workers in goods transport activities.
