MUSCAT : Oman’s National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) has urged residents living near Wadi Al Kabeer in the Wilayat of Ibri to exercise maximum caution and stay away from wadi channels and low-lying areas due to rising water levels and strong water flow.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, authorities warned that heavy runoff through wadis is increasing the risk of flash flooding, particularly in vulnerable areas.
The advisory comes as Oman’s Meteorology Department reported active thunderstorm cells across several governorates, with rainfall of varying intensity affecting Al Buraimi, North and South Al Batinah, A’Dhahirah, A’Dakhiliyah, Muscat, North and South A’Sharqiyah, as well as desert areas of Dhofar Governorate.

Satellite and radar imagery indicate that unstable weather conditions persist, with thunderstorms continuing to develop across multiple regions.
Residents have been strongly advised to avoid wadi channels and flood-prone zones, as water levels can rise rapidly and without warning.
“Your safety is the top priority,” the NCEM said, urging the public to remain vigilant and follow official updates.
