Families relocated, shelters activated as storm hits multiple Oman governorates

National Committee for Emergency Management announced that shelter centres have been activated and families relocated across several governorates as the effects of Al Musarrat depression continue to impact parts of the Sultanate.

MUSCAT – In a 9:15 am update, the committee confirmed that in Musandam Governorate, a shelter centre has been opened to accommodate 23 individuals affected in the village of Qadi in the Wilayat of Khasab.

In South Al Batinah Governorate, authorities relocated a family of five from the Wilayat of Barka to a hotel facility after their home was damaged by adverse weather conditions. A similar measure was taken in Muscat Governorate, where a family of four was also moved to hotel accommodation after their residence was affected.

Meanwhile, in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the shelter centre in the Wilayat of Adam remains operational, currently housing 61 individuals who were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
