MUSCAT : The draw for the 6th Asian Beach Games, to be hosted by the Chinese city of Sanya during 22-30 April, has placed Oman beach handball team in Group Two alongside Pakistan, Jordan, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Thailand, Qatar and Mongolia. This group is considered one of the strongest, given the competitive parity among the participating teams and the notable development the sport has witnessed across Asia in recent years.
Meanwhile, Group One comprises China, Iran, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Sri Lanka and Bahrain, reflecting the intensity of the competition expected in the tournament, which sees broad participation from various Asian nations.
Oman team is set to commence its training sessions today at the sand court of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, under the leadership of coach Hamoud Salim Al Hosni, assisted by coach Jaber Yaqoub Al Balushi. The technical staff aims to enhance the players’ physical and technical readiness and achieve peak preparation levels ahead of the competition.
